Trip to Volgograd
In Volgograd, Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took part in the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The presidents visited the memorial complex To the Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad on Mamayev Kurgan. After that, they took part in a meeting of the Great Heritage, Common Future Forum of the Union State. Following the event, the presidents held a separate bilateral meeting.
In concluding his trip, Vladimir Putin heard a report by Volgograd Region Governor Andrei Bocharov on the region’s development. The Governor also conveyed a request from the veterans asking to assign the historical name “Stalingrad” to Volgograd International Airport. Vladimir Putin supported the initiative and signed the relevant Executive Order.
